This gameplay and difficulty just feels kind of artificial and rigged to me-even moreso than with the RNG complaints common to this xcom genre and the justifications I read here. This is a great effort, devs, and there is a lot to like here, so kudos overall, especially in doing some justice to the much maligned WH40K spacehulk full o' pc games out there. In comparison, there's the example of XCom2-a turn-based game you can mod the problems/"features" out of, albeit years later. Oh wait, good news-a new patch just released that fixes almost none of these difficulty problems that dominate this forum for weeks now. I see it mentioned as an apology for rushed game design over and over. Git gud just seems to be a juvenile defense for shoddy design here, as in most instances-outside of the Souls games. The difficulty just feels cheap to me almost all around and is more stressful than fun to play overall. I play on merciful and yes, it is "beatable" for sure, so get the game, I suppose. In fairness, this level of difficulty and frustration seems to be a pattern and/or trend in game design to my old eyes, so the devs only seem to be following suit perhaps. I bought the game and have played 30 hours or so, so I've done my part in supporting the game and devs, but in retrospect wish I hadn't bought the dlc, which just makes the base game harder when I foolishly hoped it'd be easier with an all but absent Dreadnaught. Yes, but it does seem to have plenty of apologists so go figure, I guess.
